What makes camp at The Art Garage special?
The Art Garage is a true multi-medium art studio where people of all ages can gather, connect, and create. We’re open 7 days a week and offer pottery painting, mosaics, fused glass, clay, canvas painting, and more in a warm, welcoming studio environment built around creativity and community.
- Camp Philosophy
Our foundation has always been art education. Our founder, Kelly Emmert, was a certified art teacher before opening The Art Garage here in Austin. She taught for A.I.S.D. at Casis Elementary School (Go Cougars!) and spent years teaching private art lessons before opening the studio. That love of teaching is still at the center of everything we do today. - Our Teachers!
We take a lot of pride in our teachers. The Art Garage is staffed by full-time artists and educators with teaching backgrounds, art degrees, and years of hands-on experience. Many are certified art teachers, and two of our teachers hold Master’s Degrees in Art Education. Our team puts an incredible amount of care, preparation, and heart into creating an encouraging environment where campers feel supported, inspired, and excited to create. - Real Art Curriculum
Every camp is thoughtfully planned months in advance with real lesson plans, carefully chosen materials, and projects designed to help kids learn new techniques while having a genuinely fun and memorable week. We keep our camp structure intentional so campers have the chance to settle in, build confidence, make friends, and really enjoy the creative process. - Extended Care = More Art Enrichment
Our extended care is creative too! Early care gives campers access to a wide variety of self-directed art stations where they can explore different materials and ideas with guidance from our awesome teaching team. After care begins with a bonus guided lesson and project taught by our teachers before opening into even more creative options and free studio time. Extended care at The Art Garage is designed to feel like a true extension of camp, with real art instruction, creativity, and hands-on fun woven throughout the day. - No Screens
Camp at The Art Garage is also intentionally unplugged. Our days are designed to keep campers engaged through hands-on creativity, collaboration, problem solving, and imagination— no screens required. We love giving kids the chance to slow down, make art with their hands, and connect with our teachers and other campers. - Local & Family Owned
We’re also proudly local and family owned & operated. The Art Garage has been part of the Austin community for over 18 years! Being rooted here in Austin means a lot to us. This studio was built from a real love of art, teaching, and community, and we feel incredibly lucky to continue sharing that with Austin families every year.
At the end of the day, we believe art should feel fun, empowering, welcoming, and accessible to everyone. That’s the heart behind everything we do at The Art Garage.
Summer Camp at The Art Garage
We run some of the best summer camps in Austin! Summer camps at The Art Garage are a great way for your child to explore art while having a fantastic time. We have so many campers that come back year after year until they age out, some even stay longer by joining our team, which speaks to the experience our art campers enjoy.
This is a place where you can be yourself, laugh and create with new friends that, if things align, may be friends for years to come. We cant wait to see you and your family in The Art Garage!
The Art Garage has been hosting Holiday, School Break, and Summer Art Camps in Austin for over 15 years, and we’re excited to now have three locations! Our newest South Austin studio is on Brodie Lane, just south of William Cannon, and we’re now enrolling for Summer Art Camps there as well.
Our camps fill quickly because our team truly loves what they do. Kids spend the week creating art, learning new techniques, and having a lot of fun in a welcoming, supportive studio environment.

Art Camp Basics
Campers can look forward to creating 2-3+ art projects every day they are in camp. Our thoughtfully curated curricula introduce a variety of art techniques, mediums, and art history. We love presenting our projects in an engaging and fun way. Your camper may work with canvas painting, hand-building with clay, glass fusion, sketching, collage, tie-dye, pottery painting, mosaic making, and more!
At The Art Garage, your child will not only explore their creativity but also build confidence and make new friends in a safe environment. One of our favorite things to see at camp is kiddos forming new friendships—it’s so sweet and special.
A huge part of what makes our camps so special is our amazing team of art teachers. We’re proud of their ability to cultivate a warm, inclusive atmosphere for both students and parents. Their passion and expertise are what make The Art Garage home to some of the best art camps in Austin.
